When you think of the 10 commandments, it is often associated only with Exodus 20. However, God establishes the covenant with the people of Israel in the previous chapter where God displays His love and holiness. God has delivered and redeemed the people of Israel in order for them to be His people who worship and serve Him only. In Christ, we have been redeemed by His blood in order for us to be His people who worship and serve Him only. The demands of the 10 commandments are built upon the redeeming love and grace of God.
