Prayer Shawl

The Prayer Shawl ministry of Longbranch Community Baptist Church is made up of a dedicated group of women, otherwise known as "chics with sticks", along with others from the Midlothian community. This group meets to knit and crochet prayer shawls on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month at 9:30 am in the Prayer Room in the Village. When they are not together as a group, they are at their homes knitting or crocheting to accomplish a common purpose.

The purpose of the prayer shawl group is ministry. As these women knit or crochet the shawls (sometimes blankets and scarves), they are praying for the individual for whom the item is intended. Sometimes, they are even praying for an unknown individual that will be the recipient of the item on which they are working.

The ministry of the prayer shawl is to show those who receive it that the prayers of this group of women and our church are being offered up on their behalf. The shawl is presented to the recipient during the worship service at LCBC. Often, they do not know until that moment that they have been the object of prayer of so many people.

The prayer shawl does not have any special healing power to it, just the sheer joy of wrapping an individual who is in need of prayer in the loving embrace of those who are praying for them in their time of need.

If you would like to sign up for you or a loved one to possibly recieve a prayer shawl, please fill out the form below.
